The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour – Grand Slam Gstaad 2014, Gstaad Switzerland, is one of the most prestigious beach volley event in Switzerland.
The competition is part of the (Fédération Internationale de Volley Ball) FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour tournament.
2014 is a record-breaking in the beach volleyball calendar, with $10.2m in prize money, shared over 10 Grand Slams, an inaugural FIVB Grand Slam Final and 11 Open tournaments.
With this year FIVB World Tour event, Switzerland has hosted a total of 29 FIVB World Tour events (14 men, 15 women) with all of them being held in Gstaad.
This year’s FIVB Gstaad Grand Slam is the fifth Grand Slam of the 2014 season, and the fourth in a string of seven FIVB Grand Slams to be held over an eight-week window, worldwide.
Gstaad is a picturesque village in the German-speaking part of the Canton of Bern in Switzerland, right in the middle of the majestic Swiss Alps.
With an altitude of 1,050 metres (3,445 feet) above sea level, Gstaad is the highest altitude venue for a FIVB World Tour event.

The Swiss pair were one of nine teams to finish the day with two wins from two. Goricanec-Hüberli opened by defeating European champions Meppelink-Van Iersel from the Netherlands

De J Santos-Santos Pereira QAT  (Tiago De J Santos and Jefferson Santos Pereira)

The US-pair beat the Qatari’s in two sets, 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) in only their third FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour tournament together.

Vasiliki Arvaniti and Maria Tsiartsiani from Greece faced the warmly known as ‘six feet of sunshine’ USA’s three-time Olympic champion Kerri Walsh Jennings (three gold medals in the FIVB World Tour) with her new teammate April Ross.
The 2014 World Tour began at the Fuzhou Open in China in April and concludes at the Durban Open in South Africa in December.
